If you’re able to make it out of the maze that is Lord Hill Park, your reward is less than two miles away–a brewery with delicious beer, friendly staff, and an idyllic setting without looking like Pinterest threw up. Welcome to Haywire Brewing Co.!
Beyond ready for a brew, we pulled up to the brewery, just off of Old Snohomish Road on your way back to town from Lord Hill Park. We practically squealed when we saw how cute the building was! Many years ago, the building was a dairy farm, but there’s no lingering cow smell here (thank God!). Now, it’s an outdoor wedding venue, called Dairyland, with Haywire Brewing Co. located in the old hay barn. The building, a weathered white barn, pays homage to its origins everywhere, from the tractor seats at the barn to the milk bottle caddy-looking sampler trays to the Dairyland Chocolate Stout on tap. Note: At this time the brewery is only open on weekends.
Like other breweries in the city of Snohomish, Haywire is fairly new in town. Their beer, however, tastes like it’s been perfected over years of crafting! After seven miles on the sunny trails, I was torn between their U-Pick Strawberry Pale or their Wooley Wit to wet my wistle. A taste proved they were both delicious, so I ended up having a pint of each! While sometimes wits can run together for me, the Wooley Wit to me stood out from others while still being remarkably crisp and refreshing. The U-Pick was very mild on the hops for a pale ale–it was almost like more of a fruity wheat, without being overly sweet.
While the maze had me potentially swearing off Lord Hill Park, the amazing beer less than two miles away has me reconsidering. If I don’t hike Lord Hill again, I will still make a detour for Haywire’s delicious beers.
In summary (to the best of my knowledge)…
- Full kitchen: No, food trucks occasionally
- All-ages: Yes
- Dog friendly: Yes
- Merch: Yes (glassware, hats, apparel)
- Coasters: Did not see any but could be wrong!
- Outdoor seating: Uncovered area with umbrellas for shade, has cornhole and other games.
I love that it looks like it’s in an old barn! Also a huge plus for bringing dogs and sitting outside.
It really was adorable without being *too* heavy on the ‘country charm’–not a mason jar in sight.
I love trying out new brewing!!! Putting this one our list to check out this summer!
I can’t believe how many breweries Snohomish has now! The outdoor seating at Haywire was really nice, so I’d go when it’s sunny out!
