Lake Stevens Brewing Company

The closest brewery to the hikes along the Mountain Loop Highway is Lake Stevens Brewing Company. Don’t let the small size of the building fool you–there is tasty beer to be had inside!

Founded in 2016, this brewery may be newer, but it’s clearly welcome in Lake Stevens. The walls are filled with mugs for their mug club members, and wood touches everywhere. The logo of a beer on a lakeside dock is perfect for this town. A sign on the outside of the brewery lets you know that the brewery is proudly owned and operated by Veterans.

The current line-up at time of visit.

The parking lot is on the smallish side but we found a spot easily on a Saturday morning. Please be a good neighbor and heed the signage to stay out of other businesses’ parking spots. When we went, an event was just wrapping up, but the bartender (and part owner) was super welcoming and helpful answering our questions. Despite the smaller size of the building they had tons of offerings on-tap, including guest ciders, a kombucha, and a kid-friendly root beer! I’m a sucker for a CDA/Black IPA so I went with that, while Marissa had their blonde. Having just completed my dry month of March (personal test I do every year), this post-hike beer especially hit the spot.

After the crowd from a birthday party thinned out, we got a better look at the place. It really seemed like the perfect cozy neighborhood brewery, especially with events like ticketed crafting and trivia night happening frequently. We both ordered a schooner to top us off after our hike, this time getting the peanut butter porter (which I found delicious) and the hef. I would have loved to try their IPAs, but especially after a month off from beer I decided to pace myself. The second beer sealed it–we’ll be back, especially with other strenuous hikes planned for the Mountain Loop Highway area–but I imagine on nice weekends this place will be packed!

In summary (to the best of my knowledge)…
  • Full kitchen: No, can bring in food or order from places nearby
  • All-ages: Yes, was very kid-friendly!
  • Dog friendly: Yes
  • Merch: Yes (Apparel, glassware)
  • Coasters: Unsure
  • Outdoor seating: Yes
