My holiday break ended up not being quite what I had in mind, but I got to explore a few breweries in the Tri-Cities and see beloved family members, which is always a treat. I’ve already wrote about Badger Mountain in Richland, now where’s a brewery to hit afterwards!
After enjoying a beautiful sunny hike and exploring town day one in Winthrop, we planned for a longer hike (Pipestone Canyon) for day two. However, we awoke to the sound of driving rain on a metal roof and suddenly nine miles didn’t seem like a whole lot of fun.
After hiking Patterson Mountain in unexpectedly warm weather, the boyfriendo and I were super ready for a beer and food. Winthrop might be a small town, but it’s big on great food and drinks!
For our anniversary, the boyfriendo surprised me with a weekend in Winthrop! Located northeast of Seattle, near North Cascades National Park, this town is a playground in both the winter and summer for outdoor activities–but how would the shoulder season hold up?
But if you’ve never been east of the Cascade mountains, you’re really missing out! I grew up with family in Eastern Washington, so I got to spend years exploring the sunshine and mighty Columbia River over there. However, I had never before done any ‘real’ hiking in Eastern Washington…until now.
